As a small business, we will continue to showcase what UGo Bars stands for: inclusivity and providing the best snacks possible. To us, this is simply human. Inclusion is as naturally our right as it is our right to access healthy food. It's inseparable. This is why UGo Bars has always been, and will continue be, more than a snack bar. It’s a way of life- straightforward, gritty, and uncomplicated.
We vow to constantly evolve, as we draw from a wide variety of viewpoints from the community. We intend to truly listen, especially to differences. UGo stands to build a path to help us all feed our bodies and minds the best way possible, no matter where life leads us.
Our slogan, #WhereWillUGo, is about encouraging positive dialog centered around:
We cannot wait to listen to your answers! It's not just about the destination, but how you get there, the connections you make, and the person you become along the way. That's a path we all share. We are here to provide the snacks!
Rebecca was a collegiate track athlete (University of Michigan) and coach at Indiana University for a decade, and was frustrated with the chemicals and preservatives mixed into “healthy” bars in order to make them shelf stable. Searching store shelves for years, and still not finding any freshly-made snack bars, she decided to not only try to make them herself, but to keep a promise to retain the hand-crafted and made-fresh values, even as demand rose. This is rare, perhaps even non-existent in the snack market.
Most snack bars are produced infrequently and made to last a year. UGo bars are made daily, by hand, to provide a uniqueness you won't find anywhere else in this snack market. We handcraft all our products in small batches. Each UGo bar has a 3month shelf life to ensure premium quality and maximum nutrition benefits. Grocery stores have become saturated by bars that last a year, and sit in a warehouse for months before even hitting store shelves. We make our bars fresh to order, and have creatively innovated a way to keep up with demand without using machines. We employee real people at every step.
Rebecca started by handing out bars in Bloomington, getting feedback on them, and tweaking the recipes. Thus, UGo Bars was born. The Bloomington area was incredibly supportive of the new business; sales took off. UGo bars has grown into hundreds of retailers in 17 states, as well as online. Coffee shops, specialty stores, and local markets have been a perfect fit for the bar.
UGo Bars will keep production in house, continuing to hand craft every bar, even as sales grow, because the freshness is the foundation on which UGo Bars was built.

UGo bars are effective for pre- and post- activity, of both high and low intensity levels. They are perfect for everyone from elite athlete to everyday hungry people. Every ingredient has a nutritional purpose, providing a fine balance of carbs, protein, healthy fats, and fiber, providing an even glycemic energy release. Each bar is loaded with antioxidants and health benefits. UGo Bars are for the everyday adventurer, whether it be a quick breakfast, a mom with hands full, a snack before/after the gym, or a road-tripping convenience. UGo Bars are fuel for life, because everyday's an adventure! The only question is "Where Will UGo Today?"
We believe in the community involvement component of small businesses. Working together, we can and will improve on critical issues such as the widening food deserts across both rural and urban America. Nutrition and education is key! See more on our blog.
We have carefully chosen partners who also believe in using our unified voices to speak up for the missions we commonly pursue. (Find out how you can help or become a partner, email firstname.lastname@example.org.)
We have a LOT to be proud of here. See the farmers' stories behind the UGo Bars!
Our packaging allows customers the rare opportunity to actually see what’s in the package before purchase. UGo bar packaging is eco-friendly and simple, allowing us to put maximum expense into the quality of the ingredients, so value is passed along to the customers.
